Machine learning algorithms are increasingly being applied across different areas of medicine and oncology to analyze large data sets and draw conclusions that may otherwise escape the human eye. Indeed, artificial intelligence is slowly eliminating the boundaries imposed by the limited computational ability of humans to the benefit of both clinicians and their patients.
At the 2023 ASCO Annual Meeting, Tsz Chun Bryan Wong, MPhil, of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Vamsidhar Velcheti, MD, FCCP, FACP, of NYU Langone, presented their findings from 2 distinct studies that explored the application of machine learning in the diagnosis of gastric cancer and workup of pulmonary nodules, respectively. Dr. Velcheti is an Associate Editor with ASCO Daily News.
