(SAN ANTONIO, TX) March 25, 2025 ––NEXT Oncology has opened its seventh cancer care center in Houston, Texas as part of the company’s global growth initiative. NEXT – Houston, which will be led by Dr. Peter DeMaria and Dr. Jennifer Segar, will start seeing patients immediately. NEXT Oncology’s seven locations in San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and Houston, Texas; Arlington, Virginia; and Barcelona and Madrid, Spain, have treated over 3,200 patients since the company’s founding in 2018, making it one of the world’s largest Phase 1 clinical trial centers.
Dr. Peter DeMaria joins NEXT Houston as a Medical Oncologist with a focus on the development of novel cancer therapies, Dr. DeMaria’s skillset includes clinical trial methodology and analysis, clinical aspects of medical product development, and regulation to facilitate the movement of drugs, biologics, and devices from basic bench science to commercialization. He joins NEXT from the federal government, most recently serving in a fellowship with the NCI-FDA Interagency Oncology Joint Task Force.
Dr. Jennifer Segar leads multiple clinical trials at NEXT with the mindset of providing additional treatment options for patients who have progressed on standard of care or are looking to try something novel. Her ultimate goal is to discover improved treatments for future cancer patients, while prioritizing the care of her current patients. Dr. Segar joins NEXT from the University of Arizona faculty.
